Project: Google Science Fair

Location: Redwood City, CA

Client: Blue Flame Events

Event Background: The Google Science Fair Awards Ceremony, held each year in Mountain View, CA since 2011, honors the winners of a global online competition open to students from 13 to 18 years old. The event, broadcast to millions of online viewers via YouTube, features the work of students nominated in three age groups: 13-14, 15-16, and 17-18.

Execution: Stefan Beese, as creative director for Blue Fame Events and director of its newly formed Design Lab, spearheaded the project. A large origami-ribbon, which would function as a red carpet and provide a cohesive narrative element. It would eventually grow via several folds into verticals and create a proscenium. Beese managed and directed every design aspect of the event from ideation, concept design phase, design & construction development to content creation and oversaw onsite production of lighting & video.
